Sorry I've been RUBBISH !!!

Hi All !

BIG apologies for my lack of posts but I have been a busy bee on all fronts and I have finally conquered the world of twitter! yay!

Follow my photography tweets at 'KLBdoespix' or my random ramblings on 'klbramble'

Any updates on my website or facebook page will go onto my twitter account too.

So the website revamp has finally been completed and I hope you like the new look www.klbartandphotography.co.uk. I decided to focus this site on my music photography and artwork, while also creating a website for my weddings and portrait work www.capturethemomentcouk.moonfruit.com.

Please give me feedback on both sites, I thought it would be a better idea to separate the two areas so that its less of a jumble and information overload for any one browsing the sites....I could be wrong?!

Work wise I have taken on a wider area for GEP Portraits, (so look out Nottinghan and Derby) and I have also had a busy couple of weekends shooting weddings and christenings. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Throne and a BIG thank you to Scott for asking me to assist him at such a beautiful wedding (please find a link to his work on my links page as he is a brilliant and talented photographer) and also congratulations to Kieran, Stacy and baby Caelyn on such a beautiful although slightly damp christening in the awful weather sunday1 The rain did not affect one of the most happy and cheerfuly babies I have ever met!

Finally I am receiving press passes for a number of music festivals in the area over the summer and I am getting VERY VERY excited! So expect lots of pictures on the sight as I clock up the miles and wristbdans and fingers crossed I wont be needing my wellies!

As always thanks you for reading and get in touch if you have anything to ask.

Finally time to take a breath...

Hi All !

Sorry its been soooo long since my last blog but December just flew by in a mixture of Christmas Portait Sessions, Artwork, Gigs and trying to fit Christmas shopping in!

Hope yopu all had a lovely time and a very fab and happy new year! I did and I am ready to go and the portrait sessions are already getting booked in thanks to Genuine European Portraits.

I shall be deciating this month to the long overdue website re-vamp which is all draw out I just have to put it into action!

Had some lovely news last night that a photo of mine from a charity gig in Leicester at The Soundhouse in aid of CRY has been picked for an exhibition of live photography in the area! I am extremely happy and want to say a big thanks to Char for asking me to shoot and to all the bands that night and everyone that donated to such a good cause.

Right back to the list or I shall get all behind..again!

Bye for now!

Kim

Portrait Season Has Begun !

Hi Everyone!

It feels like it has been an age since I bothered you all and plenty to fill you in on!

Had a run on Weddings and would like to say a big 'Thank You' to all the couples I shot on their special days! All were truly magical and unique to each couple and it was lovely to see some familiar faces at a few!

Bandwise I did a great portrait shoot with musical due 'Step to Step' who are the very talented Sarah and Alan and we did the shoot at the Stayfree Studios in Leicester. It is a really good rehearsal and as we found shooting space so go check it out!

I also enjoyed a shoot at Kilworth House with returning actor John Gully. Watch out for him on a screen near you soon! A truly lovely guy who might be doing some modeling for me me very soon too!

The Gallery is as busy as always, currently showcasing the talent of local John Cleveland college , as well as taking in entrants for our annual Open Exhibition. Last date for entries is 24th September so get in touch via thegallerhinckley@hotmail.co.uk if you would like to enter some work.We are hoping to hold a 'Public Vote' while the exhibition is running to allow visitors to vote for their favourite piece.

I have also just undertaken a new role as a portrait photographer for Genuine European Portraits. The job attracted me as it is not your usual portrait shoot as client's do not receive a photograph but a one off drawing from the picture I take thanks to some truly talented artists all the way in Barcelona! (Hoping for a works outing the the studio's but think ahts a long shot!haha!) The sessions are coming in thick and fast now will keep you posted how that all goes!

And finally I will be having a big website revamp next month! It has been in the pipeline for a few months and I have been adapting my advertising when I have had chance, but notice from October that the site will be differently and hopefully more concise. feedback is always welcome and I would greatly appreciate once the changes are in!

Thanks as always and do get in touch with any queries as I am always happy to help!

Rested and ready to rock!

Hi All !

Well i'm back from a much needed and blazing hot few days in Cornwall! Was just the rest and recuperation I needed and gave me a chance to snap and watch the surfing, which as always is amazing down there!

As you can see I have had a slight revamp to the website and my ad campaigns in 'Around Lutterworth' magazine and with promotional posters. I would love to know what you think, so please get in touch as I am no marketing expert so any help/advice is always welcome! haha!

Gallery wise the 'Springboard 2011' exhibition was a great success and a BIG thank you to all who entered and came to the open evening, we are hoping to make it an annual event to showcase local talent and give everyone an opportunity to exhibit if they never have.

I exhibited a few of my own 'artwork' pieces to see what kind of feedback they received, and it was all good and I have had a couple of pieces sell from it so no complaints from me!

On the same note I have been asked by the Arts Network, that is based in Hinckley, to be the secretary alongside the new Chairperson Katherine Brown, this a lovely gesture and an easy acceptance on my part as I attend the monthly meetings at The Factory. So if your a creative in the area come along for a chat and great opportunity to network with fellow artists.

I have added a few new offers to my promo page as while the sun is shining it would be a crime not to take advantage of it and get out there and shoot, so if you have a wedding or special occasion coming up and want it photographing then get in touch, its always great to have someone capturing yopu moment while you enjoy it!

Bye for now!

Sun is shining and I am smiling!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a lovely Easter in the sun and enjoyed the Royal Wedding and the extra Bank Holiday it gave us!

Thanks Kate and Will, and to continue the theme of weddings I am offering any couple that books their wedding between
29/4/11 - 29/5/11 a free Engagement shoot at a location of their choice. (This package usually costs £80.00) so get booking folks!

I have been busy these last few weeks with gallery work as I was kindly asked to be a judge for the Young Bursary Award Open Exhibition. It was a great honour and a lovely day and I am pleased to say the work was of a very high standard and hard to judge in both catagories, so well done to all that entered and if you are an emerging artist we at the gallery are holding an exhibition called 'Springboard' over the next couple of weeks.
'Springboard' is a new exhibition we have created to give people the platfrom to show upto 3 pieces of work for £10.00, therefore helping them sell some work and get their name out in the public domain. For further details contact me via thegalleryhinckley@hotmail.co.uk

Back to my photography work and I have entered an image into the Ten2 gallery photographic competition in Hinckley and I have been picked to go through to be judged (so fingers crossed) and I completed a lovely portrait shoot in the sunshine for author Neil Davies ready to go on the back of his soon to be published childrens book.

So as awlays if you have any queries or questions, don't hesitate to get in touch!

Thanks

Will it ever get any warmer?!!

Hi Everyone!

Hope your are all well and not suffering from a stinking cold like myself! Feels like we have had this cold weather for such a long time now though! on well at least it means I can get full use out of my hats, scarves and gloves!

Anyway back to work and keep your eyes peeled for my new advert and photography tips in the 'Around Lutterworth' magazine.                 (http://www.aroundlutterworth.co.uk/)
I am really pleased to be on board with the magazine as they seem to reach alot of people and the idea of supplying photography tips and images of Lutterworth for the cover was a great honour to be asked and hopefully I will inspire and help all your budding photographers.

This months advert is all about my Mother's Day package and with the big day approaching spaces are booking up fast, so if you want the print in time for Mother's Day shoots will need to be completed at the latest a week before, but if you are buying the package to use after the day, then bookings can be taken whenever is convenient for you.

News at the gallery and we had Natalie Browne's 'Meet and Greet' evening on March 1st with a great turn out so thanks to all that came and we hope you visit when the next exhibition of photographs by a well traveled photographer go up on the 19th.
I shall keep you posted when more details develop.

As always get in touch if you have any questions or queries.

Thanks

School is out and playing around is in!

Hi Everyone!

Trying to stick to a blog every couple of months and I just remembered in time!phew!

Last month I finished part of a season with Ward-Hendry School photography which was a really good experience, if not a bit tiring! I got to drive all over in a white Postman Pat style van, photographing mostly primary school age children for their end of year photos.
Thanks to the company, schools and all the the photographers I worked with.

Now I'm busy prepping for weddings I have coming later in the year and also working on and part agonising over my entry for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize 2010. Just hope I pick the right image to enter, and once that has been entered I shall be back to working on my 'Polaroid' series as I am hoping to get that exhibited somewhere later in the year.

As always any work, questions all general information you think will be of use to me then do not hesitate to get in touch!

Thanks!

Kim

Hi   !

I shall try to be short but sweet today as I have had a lot happening just lately but don't want to bore you all!

Well firstly I've entered a competition to work with an NME photographer for the day which would be a dream come true for me , so if you get a free minute go on this link:

http://www.findmyfreedom.co.uk/view-entries/entry.php?entryid=718&searchstring=kim

and give me a vote please!! I know I'm not the best on there but it would be a great learning experience for me and hopefully get me a foot in the door in the music industry.

Also I got to go see the amazing Rankin exhibition at the Truman's Brewery this weekend and I actually got to see the man himself doing a shoot. It was soooo cool to see him and how he works and all his assistants, could of watched him all day long!. Seeing all his work through teh ages and tehm him conducting a shoot has been really inspiring and I have a lot of personal shoots coming up that should hopefully show where I am heading with my work. Exciting!

Thanks for listening as always!

Kim

Just a quick update on what I've been upto...

Both postcards are selling really well and I have sold a print of St Mary's Church even before it had been properly displayed, which was quite exciting and big thank you to the kind man that brought it.
I am getting close to some more weddings that I am photographing, as well as looking into renting my own studio space be it alone or as part of a community as I feel it would be a great benefit to me both professionally and personally to mix with other artists of all meduims.

I have also begun to plan two new projects that I would like to get exhibited as stand alone exhibtions as they are both two ideas that have always been in the back of my mind and it is now time to get them out in the open and hopefully looking good and push me futher skills wise.

Other than that I am attending business advice courses through Business Link, which I would recommend anyone to go on as they are free and so far have been a big help in helping me get all my paperwork etc...correct to be freelance/sole trader.

As always get in touch if you have anything that may be of interest or work for me!

Thanks!

Kim.

Slowly but surely...

Just a quick update of where I am and whats going on!
Well last week I had my last seminar with Creative Partnerships/ Find Your Talent and all of the seminars I have attended have been really useful in one way or another, even if it has just allowed me to network with other practitioners to realise I'm not alone out there!
I'm hoping that now I know abit more that I will apply for some school based prjects ocne the new school year starts in Sept, fingers crossed!
This week I had my last Photoshop class and hand in, so now Ive just got to wait for my results now which can take upto 6weeks!!! (Not good at waiting for results really!)
Work wise I have a wedding a month until October and I have a new postcard design of 'Lutterworth' available, as well as prints of the town on sale in Wishbone and I'm hoping to have some dispalyed in the local musuem and hopefully for sale too.
I have also began my apllication for the Rankin Live Competition, as well as a few local competitions to hopefully expand my portfolio and experience.

As always if you want to contact me over work or anything you feel maybe of interest to me, then please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Thanks!

Kim

Just a quick update on whats going on for me at the moment!
My postcards and prints of 'Lutterworth' are for sale in Wishbone in Lutterworth and hopefully a few more places by the end of the month and I have sold a few which is quite exciting!
As you can see from ym CV update I assisted at a workshop in Nottingham last week as part of the Creative Leicestershire and Find Your Talent scheme. It was really good (even though I got abit lost), and I was very very worried as Suzanne knows, but I'm glad I did and hoefully wll do some more in the future.
Tomorrow I am doing my first wedding of the summer and it is my first Asian wedding, so again I am really looking forward to it and hope it will be and amazing day for Faz and her partner.
After this I will be adding a Wedding gallery to the site as I have a few coming up over the next few months.

As always do not hesitate to contact me if you know of anything I may be interested in or if you have any opportunites for me!

Thanks and bye!

Kim
